POWERING TRANSFORMATIVE SUSTAINABILITY SOLUTIONS

WHAT IS COP?

The United Nations Climate Change Conferences (COP) are yearly conferences held in the framework of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). They are the world's highest decision-making body on climate issues and one of the largest international meetings in the world.

COP28 will be hosted by the United Arab Emirates in Dubai from 30 November to 12 December 2023.

FIA AT COP28

Thanks to its network of 243 Member Organisations in 147 countries, the FIA has an unparalleled understanding of the global and local challenges we are facing to tackle climate change.

At COP28, the FIA will share why its unique global perspective acknowledges that there is no one-size-fits-all solution to decarbonisation and assert its commitment to pursuing a just transition towards a sustainable, safe, inclusive, and accessible mobility.

With its event on COP28 Transport Day, Blue Zone stand, and dedicated FIA Smart Driving Challenge, the FIA will highlight these perspectives, explaining the importance of tailoring initiatives to local communities and showcasing how it transfers innovation from motor sport to mobility to deliver transformative sustainability solutions for every day.

SHAPING A JUST TRANSITION TO A NET-ZERO ROAD TRANSPORT FUTURE

6 December 2023 - 10:00-11:30
COP28 Green Zone Main Stage - Al Forsan Park

Today, road transport accounts for 10% of the world's carbon emissions. With the number of passenger vehicles set to double by 2050, they are only rising further.

At the crossroads of motor sport and mobility, the FIA has a legacy of championing innovation to deliver transformative solutions from the track to the road.

The FIA will gather experts to demonstrate how low carbon technologies and a user-centric and evidence-based approach to policy-making can ensure a just transition towards a net-zero future for road transport.
