The Category 4 BMW was lying 8 th overall after the first four stages of the Italian rally, 11.4 seconds ahead of the no9 Porsche 911 SC of Karl Wagner and Gerda Zauner, the Austrians heading up Category 3 despite a fuel pump issue that hampered their progress for most of the day.
